New imac video card

I have an 20" iMac v5.1 Core 2 Duo, late 2006, I've been getting pixel lines on the screen and the display has been freezing with sudden movements like expose, so I need to get the video card replaced. Does anyone know if I can order a replacement video card online myself and have it installed without going through apple? If not, how much would you expect it to cost through apple?

You'll have to have Apple do it, really. There is no "card".

you have to have apple do it as the "card" is attached to the logic board

it's most likely the logic board design flaw exasperated by heat. it's a widespread problem with the late 2006 intel imac that apple is refusing to acknowledge. instead they are charging $900 to replace the logic board, which makes no sense for a computer that isn't even worth that much on today's open market.
