My new 21 inch iMac (catalina) comes with one cable, a lightning to USB. The ports on the back are thunderbolt, and the lightning doesn't fit (I was careful not to force it) I don't have an iPhone, is that why it's included? There's no real documentation anymore, just a tiny 2 page diagram of the connectors. What is that cable meant for? Sorry if this is a stupid question...

It’s for charging/connecting your keyboard and mouse. Do not insert (please) the lightning into Thunderbolt 3. The lightning end goes into your mouse and keyboard, the other into the back of the iMac.

Thanks, I prefer 'wired' key and mouse, that's what I used to set it up with. D'oh is my middle name.
