Purchased a new 20", 2.4 iMac this past Friday at an Apple retail store. I started ripping my music collection to iTunes and about 80% of the time the CD will mount to the desktop labeled "Audio CD", iTunes recognizes it, and then it disappears. Opening up Disk Utility the "audio cd" is still there and once I click Mount everything is OK, the CD pops up on the desktop labeled with the album name, and iTunes rips it. Also, a couple of time the superdrive has made some awfully loud noises.

Leopard install went fine. Loaded up old pictures from about 4 backup CDs without this problem. Audio CDs were a mix of old and new, but I checked and cleanliness shouldn't be an issue. Superdrive problem? iTunes issue? Anyone else having this problem? I think I'll be calling Apple when I get home tonight.

First new mac in six years (G3 dual USB iBook - which is still going) and I was hoping for no hiccups. Got a freezer (which hopefully is resolved since I installed the firmware update), the 20" screen really isn't the best, and my superdrive may be f'd. Not pleased.

Anyone have an idea how long repairs through Apple usually take?
