Hey everyone,

Just two days ago my iMac no longer falls asleep. It'll go to sleep for like 4 seconds and then it'll turn back on. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on. Thanks in advance for any advice...

Did you install anything new two days ago? External drives, new software, system updates?

have you got any bluetooth devices nearby?

there's a setting in the prefs that is checked by default to "allow bluetooth devices to wake this computer"

i know it bugged me when my bluetooth mouse kept waking the imac!! lol..

if it's not that then have you tried erbooting the imac and see if that makes any difference?

i have a 1gb usb 2.0 flash drive that will do that to my imac everytime. if it is plugged in and i forget to remove it, then click on sleep, the screen goes off and right back on... light sleeper i guess

I thought I heard that something in the latest firmware fixes something about imacs going to sleep.

For me the not going to sleep problem was related to Dashboard being activated. Once it had been opened my iMac would not go to sleep afterwards. I have installed byebye dashboard and now have no problem. I am not sure if this is the case with other reported sleep issues.
