has anyone heard any info regarding the new 27” IMac. Would love to purchase one for my photo editing. Should I wait some more. Can still get by with my existing MacBook Pro it am a tech geek and love the Mac.

There is a chance new imacs could be release in October....if not in October, then probably in 2019.

Nothing confirmed though. Just kind of what the general consensus seems to be.

Apple's release schedule for the Mac isn't quite so predictable like it is with the iPhone these days. I would not be surprised in the slightest if they don't update the iMac this year. They did surprise us all with the unexpected announcement of updated MacBook Pro models in July. Again, Apple are becoming increasingly unpredictable.

If your current MacBook Pro is serving you well and you want to wait, then I would advise waiting until the end of October to see if the iMacs are updated before then. Even if they are not updated in October, you should not be surprised if Apple update the iMacs in November or December because, again, Apple are becoming unpredictable with the Mac. Hopefully you see where we're going with this...

In all cases I would always simply suggest just buying whatever Mac is available at the time you need it.

In this situation, I will give the best advice that has been on this forum section:

If you can wait, wait. If you cannot, then buy. Given your situation, sounds like you can wait.

If you’d like more detailed threads, search iMac 2018 and you will have some light reading material.

The best option here is to wait until the updated models are released then purchase a last generation model and you will make a significant saving.
Can you buy "new" last gen models once they update though or will they not sell them anymore, and will have to get used ?

You can typically find third party sites that are trying to move inventory, especially if Apple does a silent update.

There are Apple approved retailers who specialise in last generation releases that are new even though they are often sold as refurbished.
Another option is to visit a large high street retailer who offer significant reductions on last generation models to clear stock. Timing is crucial usually within a month of new releases being announced. This does not apply at Apple Stores.
