what are the odds of a updated iMac to be shown at WWDC? i am debating whether to buy one now or what unitl WWDC, hoping for an update iMac.

If you look at the Buyers' Guide tab at the top of MacRumors and check out the iMac section, it shows you when every single iMac update happened. Zero of the 11 updates have happened at WWDC. But there could always be a first.

It's 14 days away. Can't you wait? :)

I'm with you on this question. I'm like seconds away from buying a new iMac, but I'm not sure if I should wait till WWDC.

What I would honestly expect is there would be no iMac upgrade at WWDC.

However, I worry that Snow Leopard will be included in all Macs purchased after WWDC or something else I can't predict.

After only 3 months? Don't think so.

not likely, but you never know. Apple has refreshed the line after only 2 months before (in 2003). and in 2006 they did a refresh after only 3 months.

My bet is nothing new for the imacs, but it's only 2 weeks away so it's not much to wait at this point.

Different circumstances. All they did in 2003 was introduce a 20" model. Everything else stayed the same. 2006 was the Intel transition since which its been every 8-11 months.

A new OS usually starts shipping a few months after WWDC.

the chances are really really low.

Exactly. Can we say for sure, of course not. But it is one of the least likely Apple products to see an update. Just buy it now (or wait for the back to school promotion and get a free iPod).

Probably not a Significant iMac Upgrade at WWDC

I doubt that Apple would release new iMacs at WWDC, the least which would happen would be a bump in iMac configuration at WWDC.
It makes more sense to wait for 2 weeks for the WWDC, just incase Schiller announces a near release date of Snow Leopard that would be bundled with any new iMacs, if any.

Hold your horses.

they could use lynnfield which was supposed to be released in july.. since apple usually gets it a month earlier it would be perfect. This has a 95w tdp but that doesn't matter much, apple will have to get better cooling for the imac or it will simply die. Mobile cpus are falling too far behind the desktop cpus.

Ofcourse, intel has just said to have delayed lynnfield till september to clear out old inventories. But perhaps they have a special deal with apple. :)

This is all unlikely, but could happen. :) More likely would be with the release of snow leopard in september or so.

Not gonna happen. Last update took almost a year and there were rumors about new iMac for six months, so....

The only possible update can be a quad-core processors but it's unlikely

this might help you as well...there may be some of the same answers even though the questions are different - I made a somewhat similar thread a couple of weeks ago, and most of the responses were that they were not going to upgrade the iMac anytime soon.

Although, I still believe the new iMac is coming in the fall...

I doubt we'll see updates to the iMac line.. it was just refreshed, and there is no history of updates to them at WWDC... but there is always a chance.. I would just wait I guess, and if not go buy a refurb :D

what i meant by "updated" was spec updates, sorry i should have been more specific

so the odds of announced updated specs and/or lower price tag are for most part really low. damn, i'll still wait for wwdc and see if apple pulls a surprise out of their magical hat. if nothing happens there, i'm gonna pull the trigger and buy a 20" iMac with the new nvidia gpu. i've heard of bad screen problems. anyone who owns the new iMac care to elaborate on their experience with their new kickass machine so far?

it won't happen.

This is for developers.

The only computer hardware relevant is probably the Mac Pro - and even that won't get talked about.

This is going to be an iPhone event, maybe a bit of SL if we're lucky.

I am almost certain that we will see a brief demo of SL at WWDC. The final developer copy is being distributed then.

And that's what we mean. No new hardware exists.

I have irrefutable evidence that I've just invented that points to a new iMac 'Snow Leopard Edition'... iMac SLE... It came to me in a dream, so it must be true. :D
