curious as to if the new iMacs have been available in any of the Apple retail stores? I am sure if they were, they would have sold out like hot cakes.

has anyone here bought a newly released iMac from an Apple retail store? did you have to behave like a barbarian to get it?

I don't know if the Apple Stores have them in the back room, but on Saturday, they had none on display at one of the stores near me.

If you want one, why don't you just order it online?

i don't want an imac, i want a newly released powerbook. assuming apple does release them on wednesday, i want one asap just like everyone else. ;)

i figured i might have a better chance hitting the 2 apple stores here in dallas...but now it seems doubtful.

Asking about the iMac when you want a PowerBook doesn't make sense. Sometimes the products are in the store the same day, sometimes they aren't.

Also, if you want a BTO system (more memory?, larger disk?) it's best to just order it from the website. Also, Apple seems to be dropping the prices on RAM for the new systems as they are announced, so it might be cost effective to get the memory from Apple.

no need to get testy. i'm only researching relevant releases prior to the possible powerbook release this wednesday.

i'm also wondering if there were powerbooks in the stores for the powerbook release back on january 31st of this year? if i recall, the apple stores had the powerbooks a day or two after they released them on the apple website.

also, i am buying a 17", most likely the stock machine as it will include all the top of the line stuff anyway. i will install my own additional ram at a later time. if apple does have some type of tasty upgradible features for the 17", i will surely order online as a BTO, but i have doubts that will happen as the 17" is usually treated as the king of the line.

I was at Apple Easton over the weekend, they had the new 17" in stock but the 20's had yet to be delievered...

I'd guess you'd have a reasonable shot of picking one up locally... a powerbook in the other hand, might take a while.

Where is an Apple store in the Metroplex?

cr2sh, assuming you live in the DFW area, there is an Apple Store at 75 & Knox-Henderson at the southwest corner. The other Apple Store is located in Willow Bend mall at the North Dallas Tollway and Park.

I bought my 15" at the Willow Bend mall and the 12" at the 75 & Knox store. Both stores are cool.

I think TS was reporting that any new PowerBook and Power Mac releases coming this week would take approx. 3 weeks to get into the pipeline in quantities that matter. Seems doubtful they'll be in stores by this weekend, but you never know...

The recording for one of the Apple Stores near me said they wouldn't have any new iMacs or iPods until the 25th. I'm gonna call back today to see if by any chance they do have a few early shipments of the iPods in and I'd like to check out the new iMacs to see how they compare to my Rev. B.
