I received my new iMac as a replacement for my 2008 24 iMac that went through 4 GPUs in 90 days. I went to software update to get the new graphics update, and holy balls, it didn't ship with the 10.6.4 update for imac 2010 models!

What kind of performance gains should I see? I've noticed this system takes longer to boot than my 2008 iMac did when it was brand new, and other little quirks... Anyone have a simliar experience?

yeah me too but at least you can use the computer right after it boots I can use it unlike my 10 year old dinasaur before it. But as for the software mine came updated so I dont know:confused:

...

If you have a slow boot try selecting your startup disk again from system prefs

Four!?!?!?!?!?

Four GPUs in 90 days!?!?! Just out of curiosity: what were you doing most of the time?

And what machine was sent to you as replacement?

I was using an Nvidia 8800 GS, doing nothing crazy in a well air conditioned house. I was shipped a base model Core i3 27" iMac.

New iMac's made in the last few weeks now ship with the 10.6.4 graphic update pre-installed. Not the new Snow Leopard one that came out yesterday though obviously.

Not my new Core i3 that I've had for exactly a week now. It shipped with 10.6.4, but I still had to download and install the 10.6.3 update for the Mid 2010 iMacs.

I didn't really pay attention to which updates we updated too, just hit software update and walked out of the room for a few minutes. (60Mbs downloads fairly quick)
I'm not sure what the speed problem would be either. I just bought my wife a 27" i3 3.2 last week and it booted just a few seconds behind my 27" i5.
Also, unless the power to our house goes out or we go on a long vacation, that will be the last time it has to boot up.

Just going by my last two. My current one was only made a week ago and it came already installed
