New iMac's use 1333 DDR3?

I just realized while looking for a new Mac that only the iMac's use 1333 DDR3 Ram?

I wonder why Apple has not made this a standard on all of the upper end Mac's?

Because iMacs are using CPUs that support 1333MHz DDR3. Quad core Mac Pro and MBPs don't, their memory controller which is integrated into the CPU supports only 1066MHz

The xeons in the mac pros don't need the 1333mhz ram, because they already provide triple channel memory bandwidth, compared to the dual channel memory bandwidth of the 1333mhz iMac memory.

Intel used 1333mhz memory controller on lynnfields so their max memory bandwidth can be close to bloomfield and westmere's max memory bandwidth. There are some bloomfields and xeons that support 1333mhz memory, but they are 1000-1500usd per chip.

For you, the consumer, you won't notice the difference between dual channel 1066 and dual channel 1333 bandwidth anyways.

I know you won't see the difference between the 1066 and 1333 just struck me as odd only because with Macs I was used to looking at the 1066, that's all.

Personally Mac hardware performs better than a PC setup the same way, that is why I like that Apple develops the OS and HW, works well together.
