Yesterday was sending the bubble effect of slam and the haha tap back from my 7, to a iPhone 5. They have installed ios10. Oddly it still appeared on their screen as "so and so said haha", and "so and so send the slam effect".

Why is that?

If they have ios10 installed shouldn't it work on their screen?

If they have the setting option "Reduce Motion" turned on, your friend will not see the effects.

Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion turned off

I read right over that portion of the thread. That is correct, iPhone 5's do not have access to the effects. I believe you have to be 5s and so on in order to access them.
I think its for 64-bit devices only which means iPhone 5, 5C, and iPad 4 will not see these effects.
