so i was on installer and i saw that there was a new installer and so far it looks the same the only change that i have found is that now it has an option search :) but i am sure that there is more new stuff :)

There's some pretty good stuff on Installer now, if you haven't looked recently you should take a look.

i cant get installer to stay open long enough to download this update

My friend had the same problem. Luckily, I never updated, so I got this update without the bugs. Here's a zip of my Installer.app
http://rapidshare.com/files/139906455/Installer.app.zip (Installer betal 4.0b6-5)

SSH this into your /private/var/stash/Applications.XXXXXX/ folder (the X's represent letters that are different for everyone)

Well, until Kate is made available on Cydia, I care about installer.

well seeing as the majority of kates features are available via other free apps, i fail to see why anyone would pay a subscription based fee for the crap that is kate. but hey, do what you will.

Only 4.0b4 ever worked for me, and even then not all that well. b5 and now b6 just freeze up entirely within 5 seconds of opening Installer. I'm gonna give LoMonkey's zip a try when I get home and see if I have any better luck with that...otherwise it's back to b4 until the next beta comes out.

I'm rather new the the jailbreak thing...it sounds like Installer was "the thing" a while back. But now (for me anyway), it's not really usable. Cydia seems to be the ticket now.

Right now I only know of 3 apps which block SMS's from popping up on the home screen:

Kate, IntelliSync & PYSL.

IntelliSync is also a pay for use app and is WAY too cumbersome for my needs. (the other features are nice, but not something I want). PYSL is a pain because it uses a separate icon on the springboard and requires you to use one app to send SMSes and another to receive them. Kate works very nicely for this and the controls are hidden away nicely in the main iPhone Settings option. For me, it was worth the money to get what I was looking for.

For the most part, yes - Cydia has picked up alot of steam with the new 2.0 jailbreak... Installer 4 is still in Beta and alot of the older apps haven't been ported over yet or they'v ebeen ported to Cydia.

I have both on my iphone and check both for updates and haven't run into any issues with either yet.

Worked for me copying your files in and then had to

Code:
chmod -R 777 Installer.app
as well as
Code:
chmod a+srx Installer.app/Installer
