I'd love to see Apple have a new policy for developers: if you're going to use push notifications, it can ONLY be notifications relevant to your app (a new message, or something is done processing, etc) - it may NOT be used for ads. I'm tired of installing apps that ask for push notifications, so I figure it's something useful. But actually, they just use it to advertise their other apps.

This should be something Apple checks for when people submit apps, and those apps should be denied.

It would be very difficult for Apple to check the misuse of notifications unless it happened in a very obvious way (e.g. the first time you use the App).
