iPad mini New ipad Mini retina owners , are you using screen protector ?

Are you using a screen protector ?

I'm thinking for the first time ever I'm just going to go with a Smart Cover & that's it , no back or front protector
I had the ipad 2/3 & first mini all with full body protectors , I'm only going to use the tablet at home

What about you ?

Outside my apple store there's a ghost armor kiosk ,so reading the replys here might change my mind
 
I normally do just to be safe. I remember the olephobic coating rubbing off on my old iPhone 4, since then I've used screen protectors
 
Never, don't see the point. Will never put the screen to scratch anyways. Besides, it's gorilla glass, only sand or diamond can scratch it.
 
Absolutely. I've learned that Gorilla Glass does indeed scratch. Screen Protector is a no brainer.
 
I don't think they are necessary on the iPads. On the iPhones however I like having the glass type ones just for piece of mind and to stop baby'ing the screen.

Never have in the past.

I bought a zagg screen cover for my new mini and plan on picking up a Spigen tough armor for the back.

But then what will protect the protector?

I never understood the point of screen protectors. It's like putting a plastic cover on the couch. The screen is made to be touched, a couch is made to be sit on.

I guess people are paranoid. I've had 40+ iPads\iPhones over the years and never scratched a screen.
 
With a 3 year old in the house that likes to play with my ipads, it's not a question for me, it's a requirement.

Yes, I got the full body Ghost Armor on my new rMini, and love it. I can go without needing anything else on it in my opinion, I think it looks really good, and it makes the whole thing a little less slippery too, as the clear version gives it some grip.

I am just using the smart cover, and that is more than enough for me. I also have a microfiber cloth which I use to clean off the finger prints each night after I'm done using it. I'm not a big fan of screen protectors on my iPhone or rMini.
 
The only reason I could see to use a screen protector on the iPad is if you don't have a front cover. If you have a case or Smart Cover that covers the front I don't see the point. I do use them on my iPhone because the cases I have only cover the back.

Since you've owned 40+ iOS devices you've never owned one long enough to see any damage or wear and tear. As I posted I had an iPhone that the olephobic coating wore off, due to having it for a couple of years. If you only own a device for a couple of months you're likely not going to see any problems.

The price of the iPads is so high, and the ease of something scratching it, I felt its cheap insurance to put a screen protector on it. Yes the glass is designed to be used, but its also glass which is naturally brittle, so why not improve your odds. I'm planning on owning this for years so my intent on keeping it pristine is high, you seem to recycle your devices fairly quickly since you've already owned 40 iPhones and iPads

I have ghost armor and I got it installed at one of those mall kiosks - I'm fairly useless in trying to install them, so I was happy with their installation. I've had this done to all my phones since the iPhone 3gs and when I sold my phones years after the fact, they were in perfect mint condition.

Yeah I think the longest I've ever owned an iDevice is 8 months... guess if in it for the long run protection does make sense.
 
nope not using one. And I always usually do.

The reason I stopped is because, we had an ipad mini we gave to our daughter, and threw a griffin survivor case on there, but we took out the "built in screen protector" and just left the screen naked. Our thought was like, well if she scratches it, no big deal.

Well fast forward almost a year, and that puppy looks brand spankin new still. (And it goes through A LOT) It totally made me rethink screen protectors...

So when I got the ipad mini w/ retina, I said screw a screen protector.
 
I use it on both my ipad2 and ipad mini retina.

reason is because i sketch a lot using a hard tip precision stylus ( Adonit Jot ).
not those rubber tip which is forgiving on the glass screen.
 
i often dont like to use protector case. i like to touch ipad directly.

and i always to protect it carefully and to clean up the dust.
 
My wife uses an Otterbox Defender case with built in screen protection on her new retina mini and she loves it. We do have small kids so it's a no brainer, but her primary concern was having protection for the screen because she plans to carry it in her purse and wants to prevent scratches.
