Two new iPad model has appeared in Indian regulatory filings ahead of their expected announcement next month.

The listings, spotted by 91Mobiles, appeared in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database with the model numbers A2836 and A2837. These do not correlate with any existing Apple devices.

It is not clear whether these devices are new iPad Air or iPad Pro models, but both product lines are expected to be refreshed in May. New iPad models have been thought to be on the brink of launch for several weeks, and the latest regulatory filing seems to cement expectations that they will appear relatively soon.

Those model numbers are a bit odd as Apple last Used A23xx model numbers in 2020 for the iPad Air and 2021 for the iPad Pro. I don’t think they are likely to be the regular iPad or the mini as their model numbers have already gone past A23xx (full list of models numbers is here iPad models)

These are the iPads that need a refresh

- 31 month Sep 2021 iPad mini A15 Bionic
- 25 month Mar 2022 iPad Air M1
- 25 month Mar 2022 iPhone SE A15 Bionic
- 18 month Oct 2022 iPad A14 Bionic
- 18 month Oct 2022 iPad Pro M2

Any of them were supposed to launch by this week... now it is said to be delayed to May?

Current 3nm chips are M3 & A17 Pro. A16 Bionic is 4nm.

Please hurry up and get these out the door.

I miss my iPad Air after it got smashed over my knee due to several years of frustration with the unresponsive screen issue - oddly, it was one of the more satisfying moments of my life, too.

Just as an observation to iPads hardiness- it took several attempts across my knee to get it to complete smash.

So you smashed up an ipad over frustration with the screen?

😂😂😂😱

I'm debating on waiting for the iPad w/ OLED or if it'll be worth it with the hiked price. I mainly use it for media consumption. Or should I save money and get the current model... I'm due for an upgrade with my 2018 pro model.

Yep - and that was after it went flying across the garden a couple of times (which didn't damage it at all :) )

Seriously though, it was so frustrating. It would miss letters when typing, wouldn't scroll up/down sometimes, wouldn't always pinch/zoom. Tried resetting etc, found threads online with the same issue but no proper solutions.
