New iPad offering nothing new

So Apple has released this today not that impressed it does come on a new 10.5" size and more memory but still a home button and no Touch ID and heavy price tag. Design wise it's the same as the Air models not a switch to a glass pannel. Offers little on what the new IPhone might bring.

Doesn't seem to be offering much new if you already own an iPad.

Some people may like the Pro features but if you have an IPad already you won't be doing much new on it. I already use my iPhone more than IPad. Sold my iPod touch a few months back too.

The new iPad isn't supposed to entice current Pro users but Air 2 users,who bought the iPad thinking wow the iPad is becoming more than a simple tablet, the new iPad offers incredible value as the new display is sure to be gorgeous, new processor is awesome and keep in mind we are coming from a A8X, don't forget base storage increase to 64gigs, and the Pencil, Smart Keyboard, and iOS 11 are combined into making this a very nice upgrade indeed. All this and for only a $50 increase on 10.5 and same price for 12.9inch iPad Pro.

The Only New things it offers are

- Faster CPU which No one will be able to take advantage off or notice since most don't fully stress the A9X yet anyways. Also same 12 COre GPU anyone notice that faster yes but stuck at 12 Cores hmm..
- Brighter Display but the 9.7" is darn bright.
- 120hz variable refresh rates this was my main gripe on the 9.7" Pro and is a welcome update
- HDR support "for movies that support HDR" not like everything will be HDR suddenly.
- No word on RAM or Resolution will Not bite unless they went full 4GB DDR4.

In the end if you have a 9.7" Pro you still have the Second best iPad Pro next to the new 10.5" Pro, 12.9" Crowd wake up and buy a Laptop or Surface Pro 5 for that kind of cash you'd have a much better device that you won't carry around anyways.

My 9.7" Goes everywhere fits everywhere, 13" Beefy tablet not really no one takes those anywhere.

well I have the Ipad Air 1. no way would I upgrade to a pro, comparing the new Ipad to the Pro,
big price difference not worth it, imho

Exactly.

And if you did upgrade eventually the 9.7" 2017 model is bound to get updated every year or two with some of these features.

Things like the pencil are niche products. The pro is basically a Mac priced tablet.

The cheaper one browses the net and can watch movies and play games like most people use iPad for.

Hasn't the ipad had touch id for years? Or do you mean 3d touch?

Anyone know if it still has a physical home button or the one like on iPhone. 7?
 
My Air 1 is getting a bit slow, but iPads seem to get more and more expensive each year. I'd buy a 2017 9.7" if it had Pencil support, but not going to spend money on just a processor and Touch ID upgrade.

Will probably keep my Air 1 until it's no longer supported, then see if I want to replace it or just go back to laptop + iPhone. Since I bought the iPad, my phone has grown from 4" to 5.5" and my laptop has shrunk from 15" to 13", so it's sort of being squeezed from both ends.

What? It does have Touch ID. Where do you get no Touch ID from?

I immediately ordered one to replace my 12.9" iPad Pro. The 120 Hz, Wider color gamut which wasn't in the 12.9" one, doubled the space, and being brighter all made my decision for me.
 
New stuff..........


1. Faster CPU
2. Brighter display
3. Second generation Touch ID
4. 120 Hz refresh rate
5. Memory amount for the 10.5 Still a ?
6. Larger screen for the 10.5 inch and a smaller bezel
7. Better camera front and rear for the 12.9
8. OIS for the camera

I only use my air for getting online, netflix, basic stuff. for me if I upgrade it will be the iPad 2017, but Air
as of now is ok for a bit.

Well, i own an iPad...for me theres a lot of new stuff.

I'm coming from a Mini 4. Tell me the screen size, apple pencil use, display improvements including refresh rate and reduced pencil latency, speakers, and processor/spec improvements aren't going to be improvements?

That's the point, whatever floats your boat. It's what you as an individual user wants and uses that allows you to get as close to that as tech allows you to. For me, the 10.5" looks like it will suit my needs admirably, albeit at a price, but then I'm still using my iPad 3 so I believe I get reasonably good value from my choices.
