I just had my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9” Replaced under the accidental damage protection. I had backed it up to my Mac Mini prior to going to the Apple Store. Now I’ve been trying to restore that backup to the iPad for several hours now, with no luck. First it made me update the iPad to the newest version. But it still could not restore. Then I remembered I had the iPad on public beta when I backed up. So I downloaded and installed the profile and rebooted. It now sees the PB 7, bit every time I try to download and install, it says “an error occurred downloading iPadOS 14.5 Public Beta 7.” I’ve tried rebooting, no luck. Ordinarily I would not care much, but I cannot restore my backup without doing it. And now I’m starting to worry, as I had some files in the backup I don’t want to lose. Any advise?

Download IPSW file for your iPad from here. Dev and Public files are same for this Beta 7.
Update using iTunes pressing Shift + Update button to point to downloaded IPSW file.

If you check, the source links of those files are directly from Apple.

PS: After install is complete, remove the old beta profile and install new Public profile again.

Thanks for the info... I’ll give it a try today and see if I can figure this thing out.

Couple dumb questions...
1) When you say update using iTunes... i assume you mean go to the finder window and clicking on the iPad (since there isn't iTunes control any more)... and if so, which Update button are you referring to as Shift + Update? I have already downloaded the IPSW file to desktop.

2) Should i be deleting the PB beta profile before doing this?

I just wasted a whole lot of time and frustration trying to do a restore one last time.... i clicked the Restore iPad button (not the Restore Backup button)... and realized i didnt want to do that when it mentioned resetting to factory. But it gave me three options... Backup first, not backup first, or cancel. I hit Cancel, and the same dialog box appeared two more times. I hit cancel each time. Yet it then preceded to reset to factory anyway. Arghhhhhhh. And to add insult to injury, once i had it back running again, i connected it to the computer... and by default it syncs the iPad, and by default it starts transfering my entire music and movie collection, with no option to cancel. So you are forced to wait while it does the whole thing. My frustration level is about a 9 now. :-(

Keep Shift button on keyboard pressed and then click on update button.
If you update via IPSW, it does not factory reset device normally. It just updates. I suspect some filesystem corruption on your device.

I use Windows so I use iTunes. If you are on mac then I guess it has to be done from finder. Apple changed this after splitting iTunes into music app.

You can delete PB profile. No problem with that.
