iPad Pro New IPad Pro 12.9 with 87w charger

Hi all,

I have ordered the 12,9 iPad Pro, my question is can I use my MacBook Pro 15” 2018 charge with the iPad Pro? It’s a 87w charger.

You can, but FYI the current 2017 12.9” iPad Pro charges at 12W from it (5.2V @ 2.4A).

Not sure if it’ll be same with the 2018 iPad Pro.

Yes, should be fine. I use the Macbook 12" 2015 charger to charge up my phone and ipad at times and it works fine. Not sure if it will charge quicker though. however, sure there are some videos or threats on this.

Also, I think the 2018 iPad Pro comes with a larger 18w charger. Been using my 2017 MBP charger with a 10.5 iPad Pro and an iPhone X when I need a quick charge.

I tried to charge my new iPad Pro 12.9 with the usb-c 87W charger from my Macbook pro and I can confirm it fast charges at 28W (measured).

So fast charge does work from the Macbook pro charger on this model.

Really? That’s good news, I haven’t tried it yet - mostly been using my 30W so that’ll be great if the MBP works just as well
