Hi all,

I just received the new iPad Pro and want to use it as my daily driver. Don't be afraid, I don't want to start the endless discussion of "can it replace your laptop" because I know that for me the iPad can do that. Now to my question: starting this semester, I occasionally need SPSS to do some (lightweight) analyses of data sets. As SPSS is unfortunately not available for iOS, I played around with the idea of simply using a VNC/Remote Desktop app to connect to my home computer (with wake on lan enabled) to be able to use SPSS. so far so good. As I was browsing through the (free) VNC apps in the App Store I noticed that none are yet updated for the new aspect ratio of the new iPad.

Does anybody here on these forums know an app that already uses the new aspect ratio of the iPad? I appreciate every help. I know it is a bit early, but maybe someone knows/uses an app that got updated already.

kind regards,

delason

Screens isn't free but the release notes indicate it's been updated for the new iPads.

+1 for Screens. I also use the aptly titled "VNC" app for local screen sharing (it seems to handle bonjour connection better than the Screens app) but for remote sharing screens is very light-weight and functional. I tried Team Viewer and didn't like it.

Splashtop has been updated for the new iPad pro's. I prefer using Splashtop over vnc based remote desktop apps, because I get better fps with it. And it can run in the background on the iPad.

(If Splashtop does not change to a 4:3 aspect ratio automatically on your iPad then get a Mac app like Display Menu to set a good resolution for the iPad. I use either 1600x1200 or 1344x1008. You can do this while connected through Splashtop.)
