Hi all, I’m in NYC and my mom is in San Francisco. She’s forgotten her passcode and doesn’t have a computer.

I have access to her iCloud account and through the “Help a friend” feature on my “Find My” app, I can erase her iPhone from here. But, I haven’t been able to verify: will erasing her iPhone remotely, disable her passcode, so I can then talk her through restoring it? TIA

Short answer: Yes. Please read this from Apple:

If you can't remember your passcode, you'll need to erase your iPhone, which deletes your data and settings, including the passcode. If you backed up your iPhone, you can restore your data and settings after restoring your iPhone. Jul 13, 2020

Thank you. I really appreciate it!
