Sorry if this has been covered. I searched for backup, restore, transfer, new iPhone, ect but couldn't find anything.
I am going to be getting a hand me down iPhone 3gs from my father in law and want to clone the data from my hacktivated iPhone 2g to it so that it is EXACTLY the way my current phone is now. My biggest concern is the actual data from apps I installed via installous and cydia. I have gotten PkgBackup, Aptbackup, AptBackup, and Chronus but am not sure which of these is best or what combination I should use. I don't want to get all the same apps on the new phone but have to start a game (that I have since purchased but still used the hacked one because I was so far in the game already) over because my save info didn't get copied.
I think that PkgBackup will get all the cydia apps back on your phone.
AppBackup seems to do the actual data from all iTunes apps (cracked or not) but I would have to SSH into the phone to /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/AppBackup/tarballs to get the files, and then SSH into the new phone and put them in there.
AptBackup looks like it finds a way to bundle your cydia apps in with the backup function on iTunes so that a restore will actually load your cydia apps back onto your phone but you have to redownload AptBackup and run a restore or something. Seems similar to PkgBackup but maybe better? Opinions?
and Chronus seems to be like time capsule. You seem to be able to back up your save data like in AppBackup. The files seem to be located at var/mobile/Library/Preferences/TimeCapsule via SSH so I can copy them to that folder on the new phone an restore. Alternately I think I can email them to myself and then I only have to SSH into the new phone.
So any tips on how best to go about the swap would be greatly appreciated. I just want to get all the files over for a direct clone of all data, settings, and files.
