New Iphone Coming ... to me

I have been counting off the days until this sprint contract is up and i can port my phone to AT&T and get the Iphone. No I cant wait, its actually a company phone.

I have an 32gb ITouch, fulling loaded up and jailbroke, its still on 2.2.1. jsut kinda of figured if it wasnt broke dont fix it.. i have lots of stuff from cydia on it and all.

well this weekend, i got around to roganizing apps, so i would be ready for the iphone, OMG Im not sure i can live without all my apps that are form Cyida, there are none like most in the app store. uggg

Its gonna be a company phone, proably come with 3.1.3 by the time i get it in 4 weeks. sure hope that 3.1.3 has a good JB by then. and its stable. or this is really gonnna suck.

are people already getting 3.1.3 on new ones

You are so right i cant have a tethered JB, i am on call tech support. and since its a company phone, it has to work all the time. can afford to be out someplace and have it look up and not have access to my PC to reboot it

so guess i will be waiting till things are figured out. i will miss so many of the apps i an used on my ITouch and the ones that I want but cant use.

maybe in the next 4 weeks things will get figured out, I hope

Well crap good point, but since I'm incharge of the cell phone plan, I think I am safe. Or maybe I should report myself.

The company is paying for the service, but I have to pony up for the Iphone, good deal for me. So if I brick it, its my problem, not the companies.

but until there is and untethered JB, i wont mess with it, and from everything i read, it sounds like that will be waiting until they come out with 4. So guess i will get used to not having some of the apps that i had on my ITouch. and some that i wanted to get.

oh well, patients is the best thing right now. seems all these people that upgrade to 3.1.3 are hoping for something to drop out of the sky

This has zero to do with brickign the phone, which we all know is nigh impossible.

If your company doesn't have any issues with the security implications of a hacked iPhone then have at it. Just because there aren't any JB apps that snoop on private data doesn't mean there won't be in the future, and this has nothing to do with your changing the root and mobile passwords. Its akin to installing a trojan on your computer.

If my company had sensitive emails stored on and transmitted by its phones I'd be angry over an employee making his potentially less secure. And its the potential for compromised data that can get you in trouble.

Just get it approved first is all I'm saying.

This is true only for the 3G. The 3GS cannot be jailbroken on 3.1.3, it can only be upgraded to 3.1.3 if it is already jailbroken on a previous version of the OS.

OP: If you buy a new 3GS iPhone a month from now it will definitely have the new bootrom and be incapable of an untethered jailbreak. By that time it is entirely possible that it will come with 3.1.3 pre-installed, which will probably mean it can't be jailbroken at all.

Just because there hasn't been an App Store app that mines personal info doesn't mean there won't be either. Just sayin...

But anyway, a lot of companies have policies against using modified phones for security reasons. So play at your own risk :)

This is true, but the chance of it appearing in the App Store, due to its Nanny State of Mind, is far lower than in the wild with Cydia.

Obviously play at your own risk, but I was just cautioning him to ask first.
