Anyone else have issues restoring their new iPhone and having missing missing texts and recent calls? I restored first and started getting all my apps logins in order but then after all that I noticed I'm missing a chunk of older texts and all my recent calls. I'm assuming I need to restore again, but just checking if there's something else I can do first.

Restored from iCloud? It takes a couple of days.

Looks like you need to plug in for more texts to start uploading/downloading. Still no recent calls, but the texts are coming. I have like 30GB+ of texts, so I guess that makes sense!

I still have this issue. After a week, I am missing three years of texts and my search just doesn't index, but I know they are there. I have a feeling there is an IOS 16 bug going on here.

Do you use iCloud Messages? I don't. I used iPhone Quick Start to migrate to my new phone and texts for the last year came across just fine, that's my deletion setting on the phone.

Is there supposed to be something that moves your recent calls over? Didn't think there ever was.

Yea, iCloud messages. If I scroll through my messages, nothing is sorted chronologically. I have 2018 before 2016, and my 2019 and 2020 threads are just hidden, not missing. Weird

Has anyone found a solution to this? I am having the same issue, but it is specific to pictures within the text thread. They arent gone, they just dont show up when you go to the "see all" section. I have never had indexing take this long before.

My old iPhone, which was on iOS 15, also is experiencing this bug once updated to 16 so I think its a iOS 16 bug

I did the iOS 16 beta on my 12 mini and everything indexed fine after a couple of days. I am only experiencing it now since upgrading to the 14 Pro.

This worked for getting my pictures to show up, so it may work for anyone else having indexing issues (found it on google):

1. Plug in phone to lightning charger (I assume it needs to stay plugged in through the entire process)
2. Turn off messages in icloud (post says to wait 10 minutes before proceeding past this step)
3. Toggle off all options in Siri & Search > Messages
4. Restart phone
5. Toggle on all options in Siri & Search > Messages
6. Turn on messages is icloud

iCloud Messages is supposed to sync your recent call log? Since when?

If I just scroll to the bottom of the Messages app, it only goes back to 2017. But if I search, results go back to 2012 which is what I would expect. Not sure what’s going on there.

There is some sort of bug with moving large sized messages in iclouds backups. I have a support ticket open with apple for this very issue and it seems to be some sort of icloud/ios 16 issue on the 14's

Do you have the issue where when you search for the old thread you can find it and read it then it shows along with some other old ones in the index of threads, only to disappear later?

Same here. Turned off iMessage and back on. But it is each time synching randomly each time I try. I toggled it off and on and it is synching some other messages but not those synched the first time I tried 😂. But for those not showing up, if I text the person/number it is showing the text history and then it is restored in my message app. So they are not lost but stuck somewhere… not sure I am clear…

It is really acting up… going to my message app I can sometimes see all my test messages. I go back to the app 10 min later and like 5 years worth of messages are gone. Going back later some are back some are not. Chaos…
By the way I may be in the wrong thread? You’re taking about calls not test messages? 🤪🤪🤪

I am using an iPhone 13 Pro, so it may be related to iOS 16. My threads all seem to be searchable just fine. It’s just when viewing the main list, it cuts off at 2017 (previously I could scroll all the way to the bottom and see that they started at 2012). However, my search results go back to 2012 and all of the expected messages are still there. Nothing appears to be missing. Just not displayed in the main list.

This is what I am experiencing too with my text messages. The only thing that might be different vs some of you is that about 10 years ago I was using my work phone as my personal phone so there was a mix of personal and pro text on my pro number. A few years ago I bought my own phone, personal phone, with a personal phone number. Both phones were connected to my same iCloud account but I was preventing personal messages to be received on my pro phone and vice versa (you can set this up in the message settings). Since last week I have only my 14PM with 2 sims (physical and eSim) and I receive both personal and pro texts on the 14PM on each line. But the thing is that it is not showing all my pro/perso text messages I received on both phones with the same iCloud account. Actually they are there somewhere (maybe in the upside down world😉), as when I want to send a message to someone not in my message app thread anymore I can still see the history of messages we exchanged and after that the thread is adding up to the app. Anyways whenever I go to my message app and search messages received before 2021 it is always showing different threads… IT MAKES ME NUTS GUYS!
