I should have done this sooner, but I am planning on buying an iphone and using it with a smaller GSM provider here in the US (Unicel) using i3gsim or something like it. My question is this...If I go to an apple store and pick one of these up on Friday am I going/likely to get a brand new phone with 1.1.3 already on it? Obviously it would be preferable to have 1.1.2 for jailbreaking purposes. Anyone have any ideas or info on the matter?

Also, with 1.1.3 out now, can you still bring it back up to 1.1.2 after downgrading even though iTunes will only have the 1.1.3 update as an option?

the iphones probably still have 1.1.2 but i can't promise that. I say the sooner you get one the better.

any phone from apple will have 1.1.3 on it. they discontinue the older ones and (upgrade htem i guess) and repackage from what ive seen with other updates. as soon as the update is done wiht in a day or 2 thya re all the new ones in stores

This is not true. It takes a couple of weeks for you to buy an iPhone with a 1.1.3 firmware OTB.

Yeah that's completely not true. It's far more cost-effective just to let the 1.1.2 versions sell and then the users upgrade them at home.

Couple of weeks if not longer. I'd suspect if you bought from Apple.com you stand more chance of getting a 1.1.3 version a little sooner.

Jailbreak for 1.1.2 is still available even though 1.1.3 is out.

Follow this excellent guide which is in three parts. iTunes will no longer let you automatically upgrade back to 1.1.2, but there is a manual work around which is explained in the third section of the guide which has been updated in the last 24 hours.

Well, I picked up my phone at the Tigard (Portland) Bridgeport Square Apple Store. It is a week 51 and came with 1.1.2 OTB. Whew! I was getting worried about the possibility of getting a 1.1.3 OTB. Anyway, when I get off work I will jailbreak it and install my i3gsim. Thanks to everyone who replied!
