The remote and mic are supported only by iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (120GB), and iPod touch (2nd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models.

I too was hoping to have a remote and mic for my current iPod touch. but looks like I will have to try one of those cheap ones on eBay.

I honestly cannot believe this. Is anyone else not angry about this at all? For months I've been waiting for some sort of remote to control volume on my iPod touch without fishing it out of my pocket and messing around with the screen, which is downright dangerous when I'm riding my bicycle. This is ridiculous. What does Apple expect me to do now? Spend $300 on a new iPod touch so I can get remote volume control? It's absolutely crazy!

Doesn't the Apple radio/remote work with the touch?

Edit:
Answered question myself which is NO. It will work with everything including 4th gen. Nano but not the touch.

I agree that the first Itouch should have had remote control being a touch screen device. I also know that many products are not what they should be. For example, don't buy the new Itouch if you need GPS features. It is imposable to keep up with product updates these days. New products are not always better than what they are replacing. Often times they are just cheaper with a different set of problems. As for the new Itouch, its still a wait and see. It may just be a pig with lipstick.:p

I tried to use it once, and I recall seeing a pop-up window saying something along the lines of, "this accessory is not compatible". It would only go away when I unplugged the remote. This was a long time ago, so I guess I could try it again to refresh my memory.

Already got the answer so don't waste your time. Apples site says no way Jose. Everything but.
