one thing caught my eye today... the "buy mac, get ipod free" offer ends sept. 16th. could this possibly mean that the new ipods penciled in for this fall might be launched on tuesday, sept. 19?? any thoughts?

if this is the wrong forum please move or del. this thread, i'm kinda new (to posting on the forum, been following it for quite a while though) :)

Well the same deal is in the UK too, however the closing date is October 7th. I have to admit I'm not going for the deal till after the event just incase :)

Even if they do come out with a new nano before that date...you won't get it for free. New iPods can come out anytime. Last year when they had the free mini promo, they came out with the nano before it ended and we still couldn't get it. Therefore if you need a new mac, there is no reason to wait...and when the new nanos or whatever comes out just sell you free "old" one on ebay.

well its not a free ipod nano its actually £100/$179 rebate, so you don't specifically have to go for a nano.

either way i have to get my finances sorted out before i go for the big purchase so i'll still be waiting till after the expo

Yes it is a free nano...if you buy the nano you get $179 back via rebate (the edu cost of a nano). If you don't buy the nano (or another iPod)...you wont get the rebate...therefore no free nano.

...sure you can get 179$ off of another iPod if you wanted...or get the 2gb nano entirely freeeeeeeeeee:D

Edit: Nevermind, your post was worded oddly so I misunderstood what you were saying.

You dont get a free ipod nano on the uk offer, you just get up to £100 on a 60gb ipod if u buy the highest priced mac. Which is a rip off compard to $170 off a ipod if u get a mac in usa.

I'm thinking later in the year, around October (like Chris Bangle said). Closer to the holiday season.

What would be cool is if you could get a 1gb, but they will pay you 50 dollars!
