My birthday is next week and i will be getting a 32 gig Touch. I just read on the home page that there could be a new model coming out very soon. Is it something you think i should wait for or does apple allow you to change them out once the new model hits? I don't really care about new features but if it comes with a camera i might consider waiting.

Let me know what you think!

The updates for iPod's are in September, its really up to you if you want to wait 2 months for a new one. You can't switch iPod's the only thing you can do to get the updated version but it or if you purchased it 14 days or less prior to the upgrade and take the iPod back for a refund and buy the new one.

Personally I don't think Apple will put a camera in an iPod, but who knows.

I agree. Apple put a camera in the iPhone to compete with other phones. I doubt a new Touch will have a camera.

BTW, Happy Birthday in advance! :)

Have a good birthday, there will probably be no camera or gps, so unless you care about a new look (maybe), i would just get the 32 GB touch. Enjoy your birthday and new touch

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes!!

Yeah I am not to picky over ipods. Im only getting one because my 3 year old video died. Now if it was a macbook we were talking about i would probably wait haha. I really dont care about cosmetic updates either so i think ill just take my chances with it next week and be happy.

Thanks!

Yeah, good call on just getting this one if you like what they have in the current touch. While there are many new features that they COULD add, I don't really think that most of the rumors that I've read make sense because it would compete with the iphone too much.

Enjoy your touch and happy birthday!

Apple isn't worried about whether a new Touch will compete with the iPhone- they will get the sale either way there! I mean if they literally added EVERYTHING the iPhone has, then maybe there's a value issue. But 1 or 2 features probably is still fine, especially with the new subsidized pricing.

What Apple IS worried about is how the iPod Touch competes with other multimedia players. I think Apple could add a camera, for example, if they think it will set the Touch apart from other multimedia players.

Just an example off the top of my head- let's say Apple adds a camera and mic to the iPod Touch, and add video recording to both the iPhone and new iPod Touch. They could then tout the Touch as the first multimedia device that allows you to CREATE multimedia content as well as view/listen to it.
