Hello All,

I was wondering if you think there will be a new iPod Video or an update in memory size...etc. before Christmas 2005? I'm debating whether or not to buy the new iPod or just wait a bit.

Thoughts?

I'd be extremely surprised if Apple updated either the nano or the iPod with video before Christmas. Buy what you want.

I think that the possibility of an update would be rare, but i also believe the update would only include those 40 and 80 gig HD's i was hearing about. I think an update of the shuffle will not happen until the nano is bumped up to 4gb and 6gb or 8gb. Bottom line don't hold your breath for a video update before christmas and defintely don't hold your breath for a shuffle update in the way of more space. I'll eat my words if i'm in correct but i just don't think they would do that.

I don't think they'd update the 5G iPods this soon. However, I could see them adding an 80GB iPod to the mix at $500. Then in March, they could get rid of the 30/60GB iPods, add a 40GB iPod for $300, and drop the 80GB iPod to $400.

I would say that video iPods and possibly nano's will get updated in Jan. right after the "holiday season." That's what they did 2 years ago and thats when I bought my good ol' 3rd Gen.... I got the 10GB as they switched the bottom line to 15GB so I saved myself $50.

Well, now I'm thinking I getting a video iPod sometime around chirstmas.... 20hours of battery life..... I wonder what that is like.........

not likely that they will introduce another video iPod this soon....

99% unlikely to see new iPod before Christmas

maybe in January (25% probability)

I highly doubt that we will see any new video or nano ipod updates from now until Christmas but I think we will see a new ipod in January.

iPod in Hand

Thanks for all your input. I gave into the urge and went out and bought a Black 60GB iPod (Video). It's taking forever for it to update and I'm scared of scratching it but so far so good.

I'm surprised it isn't thinner. I don't feel like it's much thinner than my old 60GB iPod Photo.

Thanks again.

I believe Apple's line up for the holiday season is already out... No changes until MacWorld SF, which isn't really that far off if you think about it. It's already November next week.

Maybe at the end of January, but probably not till february or later. Just like how Apple didn't update the iPod in early january last year like some rumors predicted they would... Apple is going to sell millions of these things in December, and announcing new models 2 weeks later would be a great way to piss off millions of customers.
