What kind of features do you think will be in the new iTunes that will be released around next Friday, or does anyone think there will be no major update???

Do you see an iTunes 8.0, 7.3, or a 7.2.1?????

Definitly an update, because theres a picture of a slide of the keynote that engadget shot that shows a Ringtones tab

I am going to say if they are going update iTunes for the iPhone, it might be iTunes 7.3. iTunes 8 will probably come at MacWorld 2008 with iLife '08.

Definitely 8.0. Remember how iTunes 6.0 lasted for like two months? Apple knows that this is huge for the ITS, and they'll make an update appropriate for it.

I say 7.3, at best.

The feature set of the iPhone has almost, if not already, been finalized, and none of the features in the iPhone seem to require a significantly new version of iTunes. Version 7.3 may deal with some minor extra iPhone-specific data, such as notes, ringtones, mail, and maybe text message logs (I'm guessing).

All I want is some decent metadata options for videos. Why aren't there fields for director/starring/composer/producers/writer?

just a crazy thought, but what if ringtones can be purchased, widgets can be added and subtracted, photos can be downloaded (and then transferred to iPhoto), and possible youTube management of your favorites-most played is all done on this new iTunes.

might be crazy but man would it be great. iTunes is supposedly how you manage your iPhone from your computer, so anything you need to do in the media sense must somehow now tie in to iTunes.

scary, but what if youTube eventually sells episodic videos through iTunes.....

I think 7.3 for sure, but I could see an 8.0 update very easy, as this is Apple highest profile product release in a long time. They also have quite a bit of new cross application syncing that needs to be done plus new in iTunes management AND possible new store abilities..

8.0 sounds like a high possibility

It's hard to say. They know we are all aware of the ringtones tab soon to be added, and there have been iTunes updates since that keynote, so not likely that we were seeing a random update number.

I also doubt they will wait very long after the iPhone release to open the ringtones department of the iTunes store, which is definitely coming.

I'm calling 8.0 released on the 29th in the AM.

I don't think they'll call it iTunes 8. That might take away attention from the iPhone. Apple probably doesnt' want consumers to think about any other apple stuff that day..just iPhone. Any other big announcements will draw attention away from the iPhone.

I am also hoping for updates that will allow the iPod/iPhone/iTV to be able to read Movies/Music Videos like music...ie. Folder options in regards to chapter markers. When you select a movie for instance, you should get the option to either play all, or see the given chapter markers.

My vote is on 7.3. Likely a day or two before to make sure there are no real problems with the software.

what about 8 with leopard? too obvious?

.. oh no, it'll def be released with the new imac and be fully integrated with the touch screen!! :D i'm kidding, i'm kidding... just couldn't resist :p
