And so now iWorks users have the feature of "Box" integration, which, among others, provides a possibility of collaboration on given documents and storing documents in a cloud. I believe this is exactly the same what iCloud already offers? Is this "Box" in anything better than Apple's iCloud, apart from, perhaps, being outside the Apple ecosystem and thus more "independent"? I mean for someone, who already uses paid-for iCloud, the "Box" integration doesn't really seem like anything new. For someone who only uses Apple's free 5GB, the 10GB of free Box cloud space could be useful, but are there other benefits?

I use both Box and iCloud. iCloud for my own personal data sharing between my devices. Box for collaborative file sharing with colleagues. This is just with basic free level of Box and it works well on Mac and iPad, both with or without Microsoft Office 365. And now also with iWork apps is a plus.

Box is a second tier cloud file management and collaboration tool more geared towards business / enterprise, but they do have personal accounts available. I call it "second tier" because they get supported by third party apps and services far later than Google, Amazon, and Microsoft's cloud service, if they ever get supported at all.

This iWork integration is one of the very tiny amount of "wins" they've scored against their better-known competition, and is actually something that will benefit our organization tremendously as our producers and salespeople use Keynote heavily to produce presentation decks. Now I just have to hurry up and upgrade everybody to High Sierra, which is a whole other level of pain and disruption we're not quite ready for.
