I'm getting a laptop for high school and originally I thought i would go with the black book. My requirements were:

-2 ghz or higher processor
-2 gb ram
-at least 120 gb hd
-superdrive
-decent graphics

I want to go to a high school with an arts focus, I 'm into photography and music, so the black book looked like it would do the job.
Later i found out the graphics card was nothing worth mentioning. I'm not a computer gamer but I take lots of photos, plus I didn't know what I might get into during high school. If I start using CS3 will it run okay? Is it worth blowing $500 for a better graphics card, .04 ghz (+santa rosa), 2.1" screen space, back lit keys, and a machine i wont have to upgrade as soon?

CS3 will run nicely, and the graphics card won't make a difference for it. Remember you can get the education discount.

The screen size would be nice though, but its easy for me to carry a 13"er round school :)

Thanks

thank you, this will be my first mac so i can't wait!

ps. should i get it today or after WWDC in case they update iWork/iLife?

agreed, wait just 2 more days see if anything interesting comes out at WWDC (though i doubt for what you're looking for). Also, if you can lay out another $200, get the 4 gig nano, it would be free with the rebate. Maybe your parents could loan it to you.

Sorry, i keep on asking questions but, if I go to a physical Apple store will they have the printer/case i want(i found one i like on apple.com)?

They should. I would call them and check before you drive there. If it's a short drive, just go and see what there is.

Plus you can use your educational discount at the physical Apple Store, as long as you bring along your student ID.

The blackbook will fit your needs perfectly. Cs3 runs like a dream on mine and it has all the specs you mentioned :)

I was always under the impression that the education discount is for HIGHER education students, like colleges or university students

I dont know what gave you guys the impression that high school students got the discount, only the high school / elementary teachers.

What I am going to do (being a high school student) im going to go into the store pretending my sister is buying the computer, University student. Use her discount to get my laptop, she can just pretend shes getting it for herself :p

Update

:apple: I just bought my black MacBook yesterday and it is amazing!
Never used a Mac untill now and it is so EASY to use!:apple:
