Either I can't find out where the screen would be or it's just not working =p

Under Monitor Info it simply says "PnP monitor not found" =(

Might be a drivers issue. I'm still working on getting some ForceWare drivers working.

Are you using bootcamp or parallels? I know that in parallels it won't display the information....

LCD Model Number

Just came back from local Apple store and had a chance to check out the LED 15" screen. The model number for matte is 9C67 and glossy is 9C68 and both had manufacture code 610. Maybe someone who bought the laptop will be better help to provide the actual manufacture reading under Astra32.

Thanks for the update.

How do they look? Grainy? Or much better?

The suspense is killing me...

I'm such a sucker because I already ordered one from Amazon. I have to assume that the display cannot get any worse than the old ones and, I assume, it is probably much better.

If anybody says grain I'll cancel! Tomorrow I'll go to the 5th Ave store and check them out - will write a full report afterwards. Few people are as picky as me with these displays....except Iwoot perhaps.

The 15" LED LCDs are very bright, evenly lit, definitely looked brighter than the 17" non-LED model sitting next to it. Though upon closer look, the screen quality (white) background still showed light grain, but since the LCD are very well lit, one must looked very close to see it. Overall, LED LCD is quite impressive. I wish the 17" LED LCD with 1920 x 1200 (if Apple offers one later) would be on display for comparison.

I think nothing was worse than the combination of darker shadows and grain. So if they are evenly lit, I might be able to accept slight grain. I have to go look myself...

I still don't understand why the macbooks and 17" MBPs are fine in terms of grain when the 15 have been so bad.

I got my 15" mbp upgraded today and the LED screen is awesome. Theres barely any grain and the contrast ratio looks pretty awesome.

what do you mean upgraded? The LED screens are interchangeable with the 2nd gen MBP? Please tell me yes! I want LED...

I think he meant he upgraded to the the MBP with LED LCDs. Not that he upgraded his LCD.

Yea thats what I meant. Btw I got glossy. Last screen I had was matte...I think im starting to fall in love with glossy.

I had a BlackBook for a while... and granted... glossy wasn't as bad as I thought... but I still love the matte way more.
