New little project, Share your setups

Hi guys
i'm about to do my new small project for my home setup. there is lots of posts on the web but it's little annoying when things to com to combine few different things.
I'll mention my plans, can you share experiences with it or your advice regarding this matter.

I have following devices those need to use central buck up network hardware and also need to keep all the media files (mostly movies)

Devices: Mac mini 2012 i7 2.3
Windows laptop
2 iphones
ipad
and Toshiba TV

I wanted to use Network drive as a central bucking up and media storage.
Need to be controlled from Mini
iPhone and iPads also need access for media
some how possible to hook up my TV without extra expensive receivers
also need to setup access limit on certain folders

thing is I have pretty slow net connection, (ADSL 2.5-3MB speed)
and router is in different room.
Mac and TV in same room.

any opinions would be much appreciated

What you need is a NAS!
I would recommend getting a very simple one = Mybook Live!

And get a gigabit switch to speed up your in-house transfers. I assume your router does not offer gigabit wired.

Is that possible in NAS give or not permit certain folders for particular users?

No, it doesn't. but is there any work around to hook up my TV without any AppleTv or something like that? to keep costa down?

a nas can pick and choose files users yada yada yada. is your mac mini in the tv room? if it is the tv hookup is easy . this screen shot shows one of 3 mac minis hooked up to 2 nas .

the nas are under the shared section in finder.

diskstation is a synology

I have yet to do a second review on the seagate. It is better then my review but it is more machine then you need. I have found one problem in the seagate to be easy to fix. If you load the seagate software on every machine you want to write with all dropouts stopped. Above someone picked a wd NAS I like WD in general but have only used the seagate and the synology.

My choice was WD or Seagate. this Seagate Business Storage is sounds very good solution but unfortunately, I have to go with cheaper solution

TV and Mini is in same room. what would you recommend
If I hook up my TV with Mini and soon also planning get second monitor and setup double monitor on Mini. does this affects to TV with dual monitors?
