Meh, at this point, who really cares? I'm sick of both ads personally. I'd love ad-free TV. :)

Why "M$"?

If anything I've seen more Apple ads on TV than Microsoft ones, does that make them desperate for money and worthy of mockery too?

Microsoft is really feeling the pinch of the economy eh? IMO, the commercial does nothing to really help them, other than to say "we're cheaper, which means we're inferior quality". But then again, Microsoft fans will think this is the best comeback yet.

The point is, is that you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap PC, you are guaranteed to get inferior and crappy performance. If nobody has realized, Apple always uses mid-range to top-range processors and parts, not anything below. Even if you buy Apple's cheapest computer, the Mac mini, it's still built with quality. Not to mention that Mac OS X runs better than Windows Vista. Windows 7 will change things up a bit, but by that time, Snow Leopard should be out as well.

I agree that while Apple has always tailored to specific markets, they need to expand a little more. Offer a consumer desktop solution with Core i7 processors, instead of having just a professional solution that is out of reach for most consumers. Price it at $999, and then their line-up is complete. Most i7 based machines go anywhere from $1000 and up.

Good ad Microsoft, just make sure you base it off of what you get instead of just the sticker price.

What do you want them to advertise that disaster called Vista?

Actually, it is a better ad for HP than Microsoft.

The funny thing is, Apple could spoof it so easily. When MS offers someone a laptop if they can find it for under $1000, the subject finds a loaded up crap Windows laptop for $999, MS spokesperson gives them the 'cash' to buy it, then the subject immediately eBays it or Craigslists it to some dumbass Win geek ("I'm an idiot, and I'm a PC") for a slight profit, then takes the proceeds to the Apple store...and comes out celebrating. Now that would be funny...:D Thanks Microsoft!

Where Media Studies is useful

Looking at the ad this is def a MS set up,
look at when she goes into the apple store and theres the guy in a black shirt and jeans? He only moves a few metres at the cut, so she must of went in and turned around. Also there was no sales tax for the laptop.

I guess if you ever wanted to take a shot at Apple the way to do it would be to comment on its ridiculously high prices which is just what they did. Trying to argue quality, beauty, or performance is just pointless when it comes to Macs.

Unless the dude is just hanging out, who knows really.

Also, sales tax is not going to throw it over $1000.

As much as a deplore 'cool' spellings like that, you gotta admit that Ballmer's new attack angle puts a whole new spin on it. Come to M$ and save big $$$$!

I mean, why buy a BMW when you can have this Hyundai for less? Heck, forget car analogies, MS can be like a McDonalds to Apple's 3 star Michelin restaurant. Just as much grub for less $!

New M$ Ad

I can tell you're completely objective and unbiased and will not fall for such catchphrases as M$, especially given that being overpriced is a criticism that frequents Apple products.
