New Mac buying advice

I am a happy (till now) owner of an MBA Early 2015 (The upgraded to 8GB RAM version of 2016) .

I am thinking to pass this device to my daughter and buy a new one.

My thoughts are to wait for the ARM based laptops or proceed now with a MBA-2020?

Can you help me?

Get a 20, if they announce a ARMbook you can always sell the Air.

Since you are happy till now, just wait for a year (or even 9 months) and then make a decision. I am in a similar situation.

I really need to upgrade my MBP (2011) but waited to get new keyboard and with 14 inch and ARM rumored, I will wait... 10 years. However, I have a 4 year old i7, 32GB RAM 27 inch iMac and 15 inch work MBP, I don't use 2011 MBP much.

I think this is the recommended action. To wait. I have a Mac Mini 2011 and this MBA and I work with them equally..

No one really knows just when and ARM based Macbook will arrive and what advantages/growing pains it will bring. Typical Apple software that runs and integrates on macOs and IOS should work well out of the box. And lots of companies have created versions of their software that runs on IOS. But it's a major platform change and there will likely be some glitches. Do you need a new computer? Does your daughter? If not, then you can afford to wait. But if you need a new computer you could get a Macbook Air for not too much money that should easily outperform your current Macbook Air.

However, go for the i3 model as it seems to run cooler and quieter and has better battery life, too, than the i5 and i7 models! My problem is not if the new MBA is good enough. I think is better my MBA 2015 that is perfect till now for me (this is my opinion...) . My problem is that if I have to invest to a Mac with Intel processor (event it is Macbook pro) or wait to buy a new one with ARM processor. Another mate here said the best words. Wait till 2021. I think this is the wisest movement.
