While im waiting for my new mini to arrive just ordered this morning! (Ive already read so much here im dizzy) I'm about to purchase a ssd from owc and more memory as well. Ive been pc and this is my first mac, with that being said to use my media and trying to achieve more storage space for future is it as easy as buying one of these:

then ethernet cable to my netgear WNDR3700 and the mac mini will see all the drives? Id like to not attach something for space reasons directly to the mini and router is in another room. I think after all that I have read last few days a more expensive NAS is overkill and most reviews on Drobo etc have not been so great. So i was looking at something from QNAP or Synology or would this easily work with my home network instead?:

Thanks any input, advice, more suggestions is greatly appreciated!
