Hi,

I have just acquired a new Mac Mini and display. The problem however is i brought it back home to where I live in the middle of nowhere and discovered my keyboard ad been destroyed long ago by the kids.

Is there anyway I can use my MBP as a keyboard so I can set this thing up? I am stuck at the Before You Begin..... connect a keyboard. The only cable I have that could connect to the mini is an ethernet cable. So it needs to be ethernet or bluetooth I guess. I realise I need a keyboard but if i can get to the main screen I can enable screen sharing for now.

This is frustrating because I have to go 3 hours from my house to get a keyboard.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Know any neighbors less than 3 hours away with a computer keyboard that they would let you borrow it? That's the only thing I could think of besides ordering a new keyboard online.

This is why kids are not allowed in my house (not joking). Cant you order one online and have it send 1st class by the next morning?

teleport. I use my mac pro keyboard and trackball on my mac pro and as my macbook pro keyboard and mouse when it sits next to me as an email machine. It's just a simple swipe to the side of the screen and the mouse bounces over from my MP to my MBP screen. Same thing for you, just in reverse.

But in order to do that, you need to have the computer set up.
Without a keyboard, you can't really setup a Mini.

Doh... I didn't continue reading.

I assumed he could borrow one to set it up and use the lappy until he could get back and buy a keyboard. Never mind, I am stupid.

3 hours from any store or neighbor ?

I'd bring it to a store (any store, post office, etc) and try to let someone let me use their keyboard for a few minutes. If you're that remote I'm sure neighbors are the friendly type

Yeah I had the same problem, and it was a pain but i just went to apple and bought a magic keyboard.

I think the OP doesn't want to wait hence why he didn't order a keyboard online
