I was hoping to get the new Mac Mini...

But it only has 3 usbc/thunderbolt ports in the back. I have 2 massive photo libaries i would like to run off external ssds, and then I want to be able to back them up on attached drives as well.

Do you get more usbc ports with the M4 Pro version?

Is this mac a bad choice for me if they dont give extra ports?

It has 3 thunderbolt 4 ports at the back, up from 2 in the previous version. There's also 2 at the front that are USB 3.2 10GB/s and that's plenty fast for backup drives.

Yeah the front was gonna be for my card reader...

I figured id sometimes charge something or use drives that are not permanently affixed for the front

I guess i could attach my photo libraries (2 ssds) to the back and wirelessly back up everything...somehow?? I dont know how to do that lol

I stick the card reader to the back of my studio display with some VEB tape. Plugs into that. Can do the same with any monitor with a USB hub.

How much of a speed hit does it take when using the studio display ports for ssd's?

I guess it wouldnt matter for backups right? Just might look a little awkward from the back lol

It's a thunderbolt / USB 3.2 gen 2 hub in there so it's negligible.

I have a Plugable 2TB thunderbolt disk hanging directly off my mac via own thunderbolt port though.
