So I am thinking of picking up a new Mini. From the Apple web site technical specs page for the Mini:

http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/mac_mini?mco=MTE3MDI

It looks like the higher priced Mini has 256MB of shared video and the cheaper one only has 128MB.

I was thinking of picking up a BTO from Apple and doing a little upgrading on my own as well.

I would like to get the optional 2.26 C2D and then smaller hard drive as well as only 1GB ram and then pick up a 500GB drive off Newegg as well as 4GB Ram. Apple doesn't even offer anything bigger than the 320GB drive and they want alot more than I want to pay for the 4GB Ram. I end up saving about a $100 bucks and I get 180GB more drive space. I am completely comfortable opening up a Mini and upgrading them and have done this to 6 Mini's to date (mine and friends)

But I would like to have the 256MB shared video. Is this a different card only available on the higher end Mini or does the amount a shared video depend on the amount of RAM you have installed?

What say ye?

It depends about the amount of RAM you've installed. 1GB shares 128mb with GPU and 2GB and more shares 256mb.
