Excited with the new offerings! I've been using a 2012 Mini i7 2.6 / 16 gigs / Samsung 850 Pro(s) on Lightroom 6 for quite a few years. Most of my heavy lifting on the machine is with importing/creating 1:1 previews and exporting the raws from a Sony A7RIII whose 45 megapixel raw files are around 80-90 megabytes. Waiting for the exports is a DRAG/massive waste of time.
My question is twofold for those who have the 2012 and now have a 2018. How do the export times compare? Would I get a jump from upgrading to the newer version of LR (which supposedly handles multicore performance better as well)? Most likely, I would do both but I wanted to see some real world differences. Obviously, new machines should def. be faster rendering 4/5k video but I wanted to see some specific Lightroom performance.
Please chime in your previous and new setup and how much time you think you're saving. Thanks in advance!
