Hey guys, I'm exited about the potential update of the mac mini on october 23rd!
Do you guys think the price of the mid 2011 model will drop a couple of bucks after the new model is released? And how much you think the updated model will cost?
thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Typically old models are added to the Refurb section with the corresponding price drop.

That's true... But do you think there will be an overall price drop?

I thought they usually go to clearance section, not the refurbished section.

both it varies. right now in the usa store there are 7 models but no price cuts. below are the current models and my guess at the drops.
all based on past performance after older updates.

base server is 849 I want 759 or 749 (full price is 999)

I only picked base models upgraded models tend to be poor deals on refurb. A server with an ssd or a middle model with more ram yada yada yada all never go low enough to buy.

over the years when the widow of opportunity opens for discounted on top of discounted refurbs it lasts under a month. I have purchased and upgraded a lot of these 2x discounted minis. I am looking forward to this along with a new 2012 model for myself.

Here in Europe Media Markt stunts with mac prices every few months. The 2011 Radeon Mini was 649€ and the entry model 499€ for example a couple of times. If you can grab such a deal, you won't be hurt much by any new product presentation.

Prices on the old units will drop, but also depends on what kind of inventory Apple has left. But my guess is the 3rd party shops like Mac Mall, Mac Connection, Amazon, etc. will show bigger drops than Apple.com. Once a model is EOLed the MAP is null and resellers can advertise for any price they like.
