New Mac Mini vs. Old iMac

Hey Guys,

I was thinking about getting either an iMac or Mac Mini, so I waited untill the release yesterday. The new Mac Mini seems good to me but the new iMac is too expensive.
What do you guys think, should I get the new Mac Mini or the previous iMac. And wich has a better video card? (I really don't get the way video cards work....)

How old is your 'old' iMac ? I have a mid 2007 model and the new Mac Mini is far superior than it. I'm in the same boat as you, simply can't afford the new iMac at the moment so mid Mac Mini it is with a big display

I'm in the same boat. You can't really compare the video cards since the iMAc has a dedicated GPU and the Mini uses the HD4000(?) which is integrated and will use part of your RAM. The 2011 mid-level had a discrete video card.

I was talking about the last iMac (not sure when it was released), the one before the 24th oct. release.

As far as video goes, the mini's HD4000 is about 1/3rd the power (3 times slower) of the old base iMac's 6750M.

That's not old then really, mine is retro compared to yours ha!
