New Mac Mini with Server as Slingbox alternative??

Not really understanding how it all works, My question is: is it possible to hook up the mac mini to Cable TV and set up server so that cable tv is seen on laptop from anywhere in the world similar to a slingbox?? Thanks

You could, with a lot of effort. However, you need quite a bit of hardware to do that. For encrypted TV content, you will want to have a cable box and and a "Happauge HDPVR". You would also need an IR blaster and a copy of eyeTV. And I don't even know how you would be able to stream it. With all those equipment costs, it would really be cheaper, easier, and better to go with a Slingbox.
