HI guys I'm new to the apple world having just taking stock of a new mac mini 2011 2. 7 intel core i7 mac with at the moment 4gig of ram.

Much better than pc I'm sure your agree for various reason albeit one.

I cannot get multichannel output into my system

All I get is discrete 2.0 into it no matter how I change midi settings and what codec it reads .

Did a channel test channels are in the right order and are all present and catered for.

My sound setup is at moment is 24 bit 6 channel 192,000.

This is feeding specifically meridians hd 621 - meridian 568.2mm into 6 speakers the hifi is fine my pc works fine on it

Hopefully this can be resolved or its back to the pc !!

(I have read the same problems on other people systems so definitely lies with source I think )

And I have submitted a ticket ....

cheers justin...

Which audio output connection from the Mini to your receiver/preamp are you using?

I am not sure whether the mini does multi channel audio via hdmi. Try using the optical out and also check the sound output preferences.

I stand corrected:

Audio line in mini-jack (digital/analog)
Audio line out / headphone mini-jack (digital/analog)
HDMI port supports multichannel audio output
Support for Apple iPhone headset with microphone
Built-in speaker

Video Stutter and inconsistent audio

I have a 2011 i7 Mac Mini and I am experiencing a video stutter. Never had this problem on my older Mac Mini. Also, I am not getting DTS consistently. I noticed this when I first got the machine, and without doing anything, it started to play in DTS. After updating to 10.7.1, I have the same problem again. Using HDMI to a processor. I guess I can only hope this fixes itself again. Movies playing through DVD Player. Any one have suggestions?

Multichannel I believe by its very definition means all channels working.D.D/DTS/SURROUND

I have a virgin media box that runs a hdmi signal digital not lpcm when I watch a channel 4 hd movie its in d.d 5.1 but when I turn over to lets say the weather channel its in d.d 2.0 ,but my processor like any processor will extrapolate 6 working channels from it. (surround)
The apple seems to be sending information out in a way that doesn't allow processors to do this which is strange and I'm 99.9 percent sure its a glitch and I hope software fix.
I would like to know if there anyone out there with the same mini mac connected to a similar setup that to can only get the 2 channels left and right working regardless of source material or midi manipulation in setup to support my claim ,similar experiences..
