hi all,

i just got my new mini core duo, with wireless keyboard and mouse, and the dell 2407wfpwpffwpfw

wow, i am very impressed. so fast running apps, amazing display.

but, i cannot believe they sell this with 512MB. it is astounding, really. i have not installed anything yet. just running safari and mail, and for multiple windows, tons of beachballs (at least it is the right time of year).

no computer should be this slugish on its factory settings, esp. if it is the one meant to convice switchers apple is the all in one, ready to go out of the box option.

luckily, i knew this already and RAM is arriving tomorrow.

every thing i just love. i just watched a 1080p trailer, now that is exciting.

cheers

Really, Apple should install at least 1GB of RAM in Intel-Macs, or those PC-switchers would think Mac is awefully slow. On a PC 512 MB RAM is more than enough for most users (im not talking about Pros), so they think that on Mac 0.5 GB should also be fine...

Where did you buy/how much was the Dell monitor? I'm looking to get one for my Dad but I'm looking for a sale price.

i got it from the dell site, for $806 on sale. recently it was available for around 750 with buying a coupon off ebay, but not right now and i didnt have time to look for a better deal

i am very very pleased with it.

Congrats on the purchase of you new system/setup thumb. Glad to hear that you are enjoying it so far- although, you will definitely enjoy it more when your extra RAM arrives. :)

I can't believe you would have all the problems you mention from just running Safari and Mail.

i agree, that is what is amazing. all it takes, straight out of the box, and you get slowdowns doing pretty basic stuff (no Rosetta that i am aware of, etc).

i mean it is usable, but just not what it should be.
