I am an owner of a new Mac Pro. I am having a strange problem. When I connect the HDMI output of the Mac Pro directly to my TV, all is well. But when I attach it to my receiver, the picture goes in and out. I tried adjusting the resolution settings but that didn't help. Could it be that the port on the Mac Pro is incompatible with the one on the receiver? I have a Playstation 4 and Xbox One connected to the receiver with no problems. Another interesting thing is that I tried a mini display port to DVI adapter and used a DVI to HDMI cable to the receiver and that works with no problems. So the problem is with the HDMI output just to the receiver. The only thing I can think of is that the receiver is a bit older so maybe it is in-compatable? But it does work with the PS4 and Xbox One.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have you tried changing the HDMI cable?
I've been through that with my Mac Book and adapter. I couldn't get it to work without flickering... in the end it was an old HDMI cable.

Seems you were right. I was using a brand new HDMI cable with the newer standards like ethernet pass through and such and it wasn't working. I tried an older cable from one of my other devices and it works. I don't know if it's because the newer standard the cable uses is incompatible with the older receiver or it may just be a defective cable. I tend towards the later since it should be backwards compatible.
