New Mac Pro, nothing to display it on! :P

Hey, Well after all the thinking and re-thinking and yeah part of me still thinks I maybe should have gone witht way way cheaper 24inch Imac (but nar I want to com for video work so why bother and in a year or whenever I have some cash again I wont even think about it) I bought a Mac Pro! WOW I cannot believe I own one of these things!

So yeah I got:

2.66ghz

2gigs ram over 4x512mb from apple (its just not significanlty cheaper from a respected dealer if you have Apple's higher education discount) - I hope to upgrade to 4gig over the next year but will really have to save.

The Ati card because it seemed like a good idea.

250gig HD - get more later from some place else.

Bluetooth and Airport

Wireless keyboard and mouse.

The funny thing is I didnt order a screen!! Also I have no screen!

The reason for my choice? Well I am really pretty broke now... I need to move into a new house which means deposit!!

But... if I bought the com now before the 7th I got £100 of an ipod and i aint got now ipod and want one bad. So I got a 30gig ipod for like £65!!!

Its just a shame that when I get my Mac Pro I wont be able to use it. HAH.

I'm saving for a HD display though and should have enough for one in a week or two.

It just seemed worth getting the ipod discount now whilst I could. At least I will have a nice new ipod to play with when they arrive.

I think I might just get hold of a cheap CRT - I think my freind might have a spare one in a cupboard... HAH.

Thanks for all the advice. I am sure I will have more questions when its all up and running. Andy.

Congrats on your new Mac Pro! Unlike the iMac, you can mix and match screens for many years to come.

I'm on my second screen already - my first one had a bad pixel, and was waiting for just the right person to unload it on!

Best of all, you have the machine recently crowned "fastest computer in the U.K."

Dude go to dabs.co.uk or overclockers.co.uk and buy a 19" Hanns.g widescreen with DVI before they sell out. They are only 120+ quid, I've had one for a few months and it's a VERY good screen and could compete with some of the best.
