new mac pro upgrade

i was wondering if it's possible to change the hard drive in the new mac pro if anything goes wrong with the original one, all i've been reading is about upgrading the RAM, that's it
will it be possible ? .. and what about the graphics card ? can it be changed too ?

Supposedly everything is upgradable with the right parts and knowledge.

OWC will be making a flash drive upgrade kit for the new Mac Pro but its not in market yet. I'm sure given some time a few vendors will be making an SSD upgrade as well. Its a bit of a waiting game right now to see what will happen with a GPU upgrade? that ones much more tricky then the SSD.

The solid state drive is designed to be user replaceable.

Neither Apple nor any 3rd parties currently sell SSD devices which are intended for use in the new Mac Pro. However, both 512 and 1TG cards which were designed for a couple of late 2013 Apple laptops are reported to work in the nMP. I've read reports of this, and of an eBay vendor selling them, elsewhere in this forum. OWC plans to make compatible SSDs later this year.

The CPUs were not designed to be user replaceable, but since they are socketed and widely available, they can be replaced by a competent user.

The GPU boards can also be replaced by a competent technician. The problem is availability. I doubt that any third parties will be interested in manufacturing and testing replacement boards. So, availability will be limited to the Apple repair parts supply chain or buying used systems.

Replacing a faulty GPU board should be no problem through an Apple certified repair provider. Upgrading the boards in a system might not make as much sense. For the near term it would probably be better to just sell the system and buy a different model.
 
A possible 3rd part GPU upgrade I would like to see is if a vendor can put a second SSD slot on the second GPU so you would have dual internal SSD's. You could kill two birds with one stone, upgrade your GPUs and get the option for more internal expansion to boot. One can only hope.:D

I just think its silly that apple didn't at minimum give you the second SSD slot and at least give the buyer the option to have 2 SSD's or 1. It could be a power consumption issue because the PSU in the new Mac Pros are only 450 watts?

I just think it would be a nice option.

tbh what would be nice is if they release another mac pro model, a tower one just like the old one and give the consumer the option to choose pretty or the awesomenees of the old one:eek:
