Hi Guys,

Now my wait start today for the New Mac Pro. There is time I feel like I should just build a Hackintosh but then I tell myself I will wait and see what apple is going to release. If nothing interesting then possible a Hackintosh in the Horizon. Anyways Any recommended monitor to get as I wait. I am looking at this monitor "LG Electronics IPS Digital Cinema 4K Monitor 31MU97-B 31.0-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor". Will I find something better and cheaper then this one or not at all. Anyways your recommendations or advice is welcome.

The wait is a tough thing to do.
And I did both. I couldn't wait any longer at work and picked up a 6Core MacPro, ended up gifting my wife the newest 5K iMac I was using and built a 7700K / 1080Ti / nVMe / Hackintosh.
The performance of the Hackintosh is crazy fast. The 5k iMac drive is faster.
I miss that 5k display more than anything on everyday use at home.

I just order a
LG 31MU97-B for my use at this moment. Any recommendation aside from this one. I can still cancel my order. I don't play game a lot. But do videos and pic more often.

Too bad you couldn't use the iMac 5k in target display mode for the nMP.

I have that monitor on my tcMP and it works fine. There were some problems with Sierra when it first came out which I believe were related to the true 4K resolution. AppleCare never confirmed it, however it seems the most likely cause. I won't bore you with the details of what went wrong; suffice to say that 10.12.4 fixed it 95%. I still wish I was using OS X El Capitan, though, as Sierra doesn't seem as happy with the LG 31MU97. I haven't updated to 10.12.5 yet as I'm away from my machine for a few days but hoping that when I do upgrade this weekend macOS becomes as good as OS X was previously.

If we had a timeframe from Apple for their new MP and branded monitor it would be easier to offer an opinion on whether you should buy now or wait. It's a very personal thing so only you can decide, really.

I'm happy with the LG but as with everything YMMV.

Not sure if that's been much help...!?

AJClayton Tanks for your feedback. I might wait a little while. If no announcement then I might just build a Hackintosh. Computer Savi here, so I should have no issues on putting it together and the installation. Anyways I welcome your feedback. The tcMP is out of the question at this moment. If I get it, I'm pretty sure I will end up hating it at the end. But anyways I am doing my reading on hackintosh and also waiting.

34inch or 38inch ultrawide and you won't ever regret it

nice.. she's gotta be hyped on that thing.
She never understood when I said I was going to get the 5K, she had her 2013 27" iMac and because the machines looked the same, they must be pretty similar all the way around. She never used the 5K at all until I switched it out.
Didn't say a word, did a CarbonCopyCloner of her old machine, restored to the 5K so everything was set up exactly the same when she went to use it.
Within 1 minute I heard, "Oh My God, what's wrong with my computer?" So I sank a little like oh **** what happened. Then she said "Oh My goodness it looks so good, what happened? WoW.
I told her what I did and she just sat there staring at the background, then loading a web page and commenting on how clear the text was on pages, how vibrant the colors were.
That is when I knew I made the right choice with giving it to her.

Not lazy. Just that everyone at Apple is told that the priority is watches and self driving cars.

So far i am happy with the monitor mentioned on this post. only problem my Macbook pro late 2013 will not run it by the full specs of the monitor. But happy with the result. Waiting patiently and enjoying what i have now. So far running Final Cut pro and Adobe premiere pro on my laptop and saving it to an external HDD.

What I mean it is not running at full 4096-by-2304. It is running it at 3840 by 2304. My MacBook has become my regular work machine for editing for the church event after I am off at work.
