New Mac Question

hi im getting a 20" 2.66 Ghz, 4gb ram, 750HD iMac for christmas and im wondering how i transport all my music videos and apps in itunes.....

Don't buy the RAM from Apple, don't buy the hard drive from Apple, don't buy an iMac before January 6th.

Connect your old computer over FireWire or Ethernet. Migration Assistant will take care of it.

Are you switching from a PC to a Mac, or from an older Mac to a new Mac?

it depends...

it depends: do you have those files in another mac? if so, which model and OS? or, do you have those files in an external hard disk? if so, are they in a system clone/backup, or do they come individually from another mac or a PC?

ya its a pc to a mac....i do have an iphone thats backed up..maybe that can help

What is your flash drive formatted to? What error message is it giving you? And are you talking about an iTunes library?

yea im going to transfer azll my itunes music,videos,and apps, can i hook up my iphone to the new itunes on the mac and will it transfer it?

If you have everything on your iPhone, you can export the songs off of it using third party software. iTunes does not allow you to take content off of an iPhone or iPod.

This application, Senuti, will do the job for you... and it's free.

(I'm not sure if Senuti works with the iPhone because I've only used it with an iPod)

You can transfer your music files from your itunes on your pc to your itunes library on a mac. Go to CNET. Under CNET TV, go to Quick Tips. On 5/22/08 they did a topic called "Move itunes to a new computer". They show you how to move songs from one computer to another. It worked for me. I moved all my songs from my old Dell to my MacBook and iMac. I did it using my WD My Passport external hard drive. Didn't need a third party program. They have alot of tips on that site.
