new mac user with some itunes EQ ?'s

Hello all, Hope this is the right area for this thread

After all the updates I had to do on a weekly basis to keep me free and clear from viruses spyware and adware... I gave in!! I have just purchased my first Mac and am delighted so far. Anyway, some questions.......

I purchased a nifty used green Ipod mini from ebay and am in the process of teaching myself how to use it. Itunes is great , So simple and clean unlike other music managers I'm used to. I've transferred about 10% of my music over to my Ibook and have been playing around with the EQ functions. Since I invested in some high end earbuds I would like to know how to transfer my music from iTunes to the ipod with each songs preset EQ Ie..Bob Dylan-Rock Tricky-Electric. I've defiantly noticed different sounds when messing with the EQ and I love it!! When I have spare time between classes I'll listen to songs with different EQ settings until I find one that's just right for that song. That's my dilemma....any help will be greatly appreciated.


PS.....Whats up with my mini's battery, "Enjoy long battery life, Up to 18 hours on a single charge"..WHATEVER!! I'm lucky if I get a full 4hrs. Also, do al ipods have weak earphone jack connection (mine keeps slipping out). I'm not a complainer by nature....just wondering....Future thanks for the friendly tech banter.

The EQ settings from iTunes do get transferred over, but as far as I've been able to tell none of the iPods actually pay attention to them.

Also depends on volume, backlight etc. I think 18 hours is no volume and no backlight

It's a painstaking process setting those things for each song, I told myself it was worth it cause I'd soon be jammin to awsome sounding "custom" jamz...Oh well. I'm a Mac user now, I'll live with it. How easy is it to swap those batteries on the mini?

How easy is it to swap those batteries on the mini?

Meh. It's not hard, but you have to be careful with the plastic covers on the ends. They're easy to bend, not so easy to straighten out again if they do get bent. A heat gun or hair dryer can help to make the glue softer and avoid that trouble. That aside, make sure your hands and work surface are super clean so the glue doesn't get contaminated. If you need new glue, choose something that's not so good that you can't take it apart again later

When a song is assigned a preset EQ in iTunes, it will transfer to the iPod, and it will play that way when the iPod EQ is turned on and set to flat.

What do mean? It's exactly what the thread poster wants - the preset EQs in iTunes to play on his iPod.

EDIT: Unless I'm reading it wrong and he's only interested in transferring customized EQ settings.

What you end up with isn't the same equalization setting you have in iTunes, even with the presets. The equalizers aren't the same, so it's simply not possible to get a proper match.
